Little gifts for cosy winter evenings

Small wrapped gifts, a lit candle and a felt sheep on a wooden table on a winter evening

When the evenings get long and dark, small things make a home feel warm: candlelight, a soft scent, something handmade on the shelf. Here are a few ideas for little gifts – or for treating yourself.

A candle that comes ready to give

The Greenman wooden wick soy candle – Midnight Rose comes in a deep green glass jar with a cork lid and a kraft-style gift box. The wooden wick crackles softly, and the candle burns for approx. 26 hours. For a herbal note, the Clear Thinking soy candle is scented only with pure rosemary essential oil and comes in gift packaging.

For a slow bath or shower

The Cosy Winter Nights whipped soap smells of cinnamon and clove over jasmine, violet and rose, with a warm base of vanilla and woods – a lovely small stocking filler. More scents are in our whipped soaps.

Something handmade for the shelf or the tree

  • A little felt sheep, handmade in Nepal – for a shelf, a children's room or the Christmas tree. It is a decoration, not a toy.
  • Wooden hearts with an enamel finish for the tree, wreaths and garlands – priced per heart, so you can pick a few.
  • Felt flowers that never wilt and need no water.

Warm light on the table

A Himalayan salt candle holder glows warmly when a tealight burns inside it, and no two look quite the same. Add a pack of long-burning tealights.

Make your own candle

For someone who likes to create: a pouch of candle sand with four wicks. Pour it into a pretty jar or bowl, and the gift becomes a candle. Read how to use candle sand.

Wrapping without waste

A small natural-fibre pouch with a cheerful affirmation is a reusable way to wrap a candle pot or a few sweets.
